Cannabis plants, like all living things, require water and nutrients to survive. They need a specific set of nutrients and a disciplined water schedule to thrive. These are likely to depend on the strain, the gardener, and the grow space – fortunately, we have covered most foundations right here!
Learn how to apply cannabis nutrients and when to feed your plants. Cannabis nutrients are an essential part of the cultivation process, but they don’t have to be the downfall of your existence. To survive and prosper, cannabis plants require various elements from their surroundings. Cannabis nutrients are simply a concentrated version of what they would get from their surroundings. You feed your garden to increase harvest quantity and quality while enjoying healthy, happy crops.
Cannabis plants require a lot of three nutrients. Nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium are essential for cannabis plant health. As a result, these three nutrients are usually prominently displayed on fertilizer products in the form of an NPK ratio. The greater the number for each value, the greater the nutrient concentration.
Additionally, cannabis requires more than just three nutrients to survive and thrive. Secondary nutrients like calcium, magnesium, and sulfur are crucial for plant growth. Plants also use several other nutrients in small amounts (micronutrients) that are extremely important. Among them are copper, molybdenum, boron, iron, manganese, chlorine and zinc.
Let’s look at the best cannabis feeding schedule for each growth stage.
During the seedling stage, you will not require any cannabis nutrients. Before supplementing with plant nutrients, wait until they are 3–4 weeks old and have some leaves to call their own.
Some farmers prefer to start their plants with a light 2:1:2 fertilizer (NPK ratio) for one week, just as their seedlings enter their vegetative growth stage. Others skip this step and immediately begin with a 4:2:3 NPK solution.
Flowering cannabis plants require less nitrogen and more potassium to produce large, resinous flowers. Nitrogen requirements decrease, and the plants devote more energy to developing buds. Most producers feed their flowering plants a 5:7:10 fertilizer during the first two weeks of flowering. Furthermore, potassium must be higher than the rest of the nutrients. Towards the end of the flowering phase, just before harvest, you should flush your cannabis plants – find out how to flush cannabis plants effectively.
Cannabis plants require water to thrive. Cannabis is a resilient plant, and most strains are very forgiving if your water supply isn’t perfect. Consistent water stress can also be harmful to the plant’s health and, as a result, its quality. It is critical for any grower interested in fresh, robust, and healthy pot plants to understand how to water the plants correctly and appropriately. A particular interesting innovation is using reverse osmosis water for cannabis.
There are beneficial insects that a gardener must have and harmful pests that can wreak havoc on fruits and vegetables. Sugar water is an interesting garden treatment that attracts beneficial bees to pollinate the plants growing. It also kills harmful parasites that can damage many different plants due to their feeding habits. For best results, spray buds with sugar water.
